A View From the Inside: Beach

Well, I have to say I had a really nice Mother's Day. It started out with 2 beautifully handmade cards from the kids and a really nice letter from Rob. I love handmade cards. Ben and Lauren each gave me some of those gold foil wrapped chocolate coins in the net bags. I love those things. I know, I'm strange. At least I'm cheap to buy for. At 10am we headed out for a day at the beach. I am not a beach person, but I have been sick for days and really wanted to get out and get some fresh air.

I am so glad we went. We had a blast! The water was about 85 degrees which was nice but now that we have been in Florida for a while, 85 feels cold. Once we got in it was great. Rob stood guard for the occasional shark that may swim by(he saw none). I've heard that you are more likely to be attacked by a wild pig than to get bit by a shark. This is not comforting to Rob due to the fact that I had a wild pig come after me while I was eating a picnic lunch on a deserted beach last year. So, he will always stand guard with his family in the water.

Aside from sharks, it is the beginning of stingray season. What this means to us is that we must shuffle our feet when entering the water so if a stingray is resting near the edge of the water we will cause it to flee. If you don't shuffle you may step right on it and it will strike you. I would rather not experience that.

Now you know why I don't look forward to the beach! But like I said, we really did have a great time. Here are a few photos of our day.
